Whenever you gain a card for any reason - map rewards, purchased Spells, Search results, Specialty cards at Levels IV and VI - it goes directly INTO YOUR HAND unless the effect explicitly says otherwise. The only card that starts inside your deck is your Level I Specialty, shuffled in during setup.
